I know everybody says this, but our wedding day really was the very best day ever. All the people I loved were all together in the city I love supporting me and watching me marry the man that I love. So much goodness going around!
While we were planning, I couldn't believe how much time went into the "getting ready" part. I mean, the hair and makeup people were set to arrive at The Peabody at 10 am. We weren't getting married until 5 pm! That seemed like so much time. I learned that day to leave all those decisions to the professionals. Starting that early was definitely a good thing. We used every single minute.
I loved being able to spend the whole morning and afternoon with my very best friends. There was a lot of laughing and overall it was just fun. We kept our bridal party small so with me that morning were just my bridesmaids (Kim, Catherine, and Mary), my Mom, my flower girl (and her Mom, hi Deena :) ), and a few other family members filtering in and out helping us with little last minute things that needed to get done. It was perfect.
I need to brag about my bridesmaids for a minute. They were so incredibly helpful in absolutely every aspect of the day. I don't know what I would have done without them. One particular moment stands out in my mind. When I put my dress on for the first time since it was fitted (yeah, probably should have tried it on before the wedding day) the straps were too loose! They were falling off my shoulders. Before I could even begin to worry or panic, my bridesmaids had a needle and thread and were sewing my straps onto my dress. While I was wearing it. Every little thing they anticipated and every little thing was perfect. Plus, I love love love that we have pictures of this!! (Side note, if you need a photographer, Jon Sharman is the best there is)
Ok, enough of me rambling, here are some of my favorite pictures from this part of the day:

ReplyDeleteThese pictures are great! and you look beautiful of course. I was surprised how much I love my own "getting ready" pictures. I thought they would just be filler in our album but our photographer captured so many fun moments from getting ready that morning and candids that I love.
ReplyDeleteWe got married at 6pm and started getting ready at 11am, so it sounds like our timelines were pretty similar. I can't believe how long the getting ready process was! Your dress is beautiful!
