Tornado

I absolutely hate tornadoes. They scare the living daylights out of me. Maybe it's because growing up we didn't have any of them and all I know about them is from the movie Twister.. yeah, that's a scary movie for an eight year old to see.

The past few days there has been lots of tornado talk. Some towns have been absolutely devastated and lives have been lost. Yesterday was a weird day here. We kept hearing about bad weather all around us but it was sunny. That scares me. It scares me that we've had such a warm winter.
Perfect for tornadoes?

Something I don't understand is why the tornado sirens go off where there isn't an actual tornado. I think it makes people numb to the whole thing. Ok, I am clearly not an expert but I think the siren should only be used when it is absolutely imperative to get in the bathtub. Otherwise, people get use to hearing it and never think the situation is serious. Maybe this is just me being paranoid.

Anyways, what I am trying to say is please everyone be safe!! I know I'll be keeping my ears open for that siren and keeping you all in my prayers this coming tornado season.

  1. Oh, my gosh. I am right outside of Nashville and it was awful. The wind and the hail was unbearable. Hail the size of golf balls. It sounded like my house was being bombed. I have a little hail damage, but we are okay. We jumped in the bathtub. Gotta love TN weather. Glad your safe.

  2. Yeah, I think this is going to be a big storm season. Is this your first spring here? I feel the same about the sirens... especially when they continue going off for HOURS even though the tornado's not near you. I think the Weather Service is working on a way around that.
