A Girl Can Dream

Ten Feet Off Beale - Imagine the Possibilities

There's a little empty storefront that I pass by almost everyday on my afternoon walks. It's located right in the heart of downtown Memphis on one of the most (in my opinion) beautiful streets in the city. There are no cars, just a trolley, there are lamp posts with hanging flower baskets.

If I had a million dollars and a whole lot of luck, I would buy this little empty unloved storefront and put in a coffee and pie shop. We would be open early for the people who work downtown to get their morning cup of coffee. We would be open late for late night slices of pie after a night on the town. We would have a million different flavors of pie (I mean, this issss a fantasy) and nobody would ever be able to pick a favorite because they were all too yummy. All of our coffee mugs would be vintage and no two would look alike. People would fall in love here, old friends would catch up here, children would hold fond memories of this place for the rest of their lives.

You wouldn't be able to come to Memphis without taking a walk down Main Street just to have a slice of homemade pie.

Hey, a girl can dream, right?

If you were given this storefront.. what would you put there?

  1. I love this idea!!! You are a genius and would have the cutest coffee shop ever.

  2. I love this. My biggest dream is to open up a coffee shop/bakery/art gallery in Grand Rapids, MI.

  3. I do the same thing when I see empty buildings / store fronts in beautiful locations. "If only". Hopefully someday we can all put these dreams into action! It would be a pretty awesome shop! Yum!

  4. It is SUCH a good idea, and a great location. Love it. Also, do you mind me asking what program you use to write "imagine the possibilities" on the first picture?

  5. I love looooooving this post!

I've always wanted to do a coffee shop/bookstore and you nailed with with the different coffee cups!!!!!

  6. this makes me think of the movie "Waitress", which you should watch if you haven't seen it before. it's super cute.

also, if this ever happened I would seriously roadtrip up to Memphis to come eat at your pie shop. which I think means you should buy this storefront. ;)

  7. If I had $500,000 I would go in halfsies and do this with you! hahaha

  8. I want to come to your coffee/pie shop, it sounds fantastic. Especially late night slices of pie. Yum!

I found you on the blog working link and am following now.

Check me out if you would like...

  9. Sounds perfect! I've always loved the idea of breakfast/lunch restaurant. Something small but super delicious. Working early and closing by 3. That would be ideal!

  10. I would make it a little Italian restaurant, all homemade no frozen anything. I've always wanted my own restaurant.

  11. That sounds amazing! I don't think I can top that dream. I hope that little place can one day be a coffee and pie shop, it looks so sad and lonely the way it is.

  12. that sounds like a wonderful place. i would definitely come eat your pie and drink your coffee! :)

    happy friday friend!
