Pie Day // The Weeping Banana Cream Pie

After The Berry Pie Catastrophe, I thought about giving up my goal of being able to make a delicious pie from scratch. However, while I was throwing away the inedible pie, I thought, "I absolutely cannot give up yet." So, I tried again. This time, I made a Dulce de Leche Banana Cream Pie. I found the recipe through Pinterest and thought it was easy enough so I gave it a whirl.

ten feet off beale

Since I loved the crust of the first pie, I made that again instead of going with store bought. Even though this pie was time consuming it turned out delicious!!! Jeremy wasn't the biggest fan, but I really liked it!!!

Now, I guess you're wondering why I said the pie was weeping. Allow me to explain. After cutting out a few pieces of the pie I noticed that the pie dish looked a little runny. In the areas where the pieces had been some sort of liquid was gathering. I thought maybe it just needed to be put back in the fridge. Time passed and sure enough there was constantly a tiny pool of some sort of liquid in the empty parts of the pie dish! Jeremy's Mom told me that this is often referred to as weeping and that it sometimes happens with meringues and things like that. Hm! Guess I learned something new!! Anybody know if there's a way to avoid that?

Small pieces were necessary since it is veryyy sweet, but at least I'm back in the pie game!!

I got a cute heart shaped pie press that I'm planning on using for next month's Pie Day. Looking forward to it!
