Regatta

While I was up in New Jersey visiting my family for Easter, I had the opportunity to see my brother in a Regatta (not even sure if that's the proper way to use that word).
True story: I had no idea what a Regatta was until I got there... it's a boat race.

Let me give you some background.

My entire family (pretty much) went to Villanova University. I mean, I did, my parents did, my cousin, aunt, uncle... and now my brother is there. When you follow in the footsteps of your entire family, it's sometimes difficult to make the experience your own. I was able to make my own memories and do my own things while there, and apparently so is my brother. He joined the Villanova Rowing Team.

I didn't even know Villanova had a rowing team (ok, maybe I had an idea, but I don't think I ever knew anyone on the team). The funny thing is, my brother has zero experience with this sport. He had never done it before!

He even has a pretty cool job on the team. He's the coxswain (pron.ˈkɒksən). He's the one that steers the boat and communicates with the rowers to ensure that they are all rowing in sync. Um, maybe I'm just biased because he's my brother, but I'm impressed!! That is so cool!!!

I am so so so happy that I got to see the rowing team in action! It's pretty amazing how much goes into a relatively short race down the river (it probably doesn't feel short to them rowing, I guess).

This is my brother leading the team to the river.

Hey, Anthony, are you embarassed yet? Love you, brother!

  5. That must have been so fun to watch! We have so many schools in the Boston area that have crew teams, I love watching them on the Charles River.

  8. The only time I've ever heard the word regatta is on an episode of Friends. Rachel says she's going to a regatta gala.
