What's for dinner... (3)

I know I'm a day late with my What's For Dinner post but I didn't have any photos or really any good recipes from this past week.. until last night.

We did our usual Mexican crescents which come out better and better every time we make them.. if you haven't done this yet I recommend it!!

We also tried something new. Through twitter I came across this recipe for fried apple slices. Now, if I've learned anything from living in the South it's that everything is better when fried so we gave it a shot.

They came out pretty good! Definitely a good fall treat.

Oh, How Pinteresting - Art

This has been an extremely stressful week for me with hockey season VERY quickly approaching. It's so nice to sit down for a minute and just browse Pinterest and put together some of my favorite pins. Today I'm focusing on some artwork that I've pinned. It always amazes me how creative people can be and how beautiful their creations are. Here are some of my recent favorites. I wish I could hang all of these on my walls.

Versatile Blogger

Thanks so much to Emma at It Happened On a Sunday for my first ever blog award!! It was so sweet of her to recognize me as a versatile blogger. It feels good to know that people not only are reading what I write, but also like it enough to share it with their bloggy friends. Thanks Emma!

Ok, now here are the rules:

Rule #1: Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them!

Thanks again to Emma!!

Rule #2: Share seven things about yourself.
1-  I absolutely love the Philadelphia Flyers.. I even got the opportunity to intern with them when I was in college. That's where I figured out I wanted to work for a hockey team.

2- I hate when people don't use their blinkers when they're turning.

3- I pretty much never use Facebook anymore.. I'm constantly on Twitter though.
4- The Time Traveler's Wife is my favorite book. Wasn't really a fan of the movie but I have read the book multiple times.
5- I almost never wear pink. I look a lot younger than I am and I feel like pink makes me look even younger.

6- Cinderella is my favorite Disney princess.. I like her story the best.
7- My favorite movie ever is Singing in the Rain.

Rule #3: Pass the award onto up to 15 bloggers that you have recently discovered:
I follow so many bloggers of all different varieties.. these are some of my favorites that I think deserve some recognition for being truly versatile bloggers.. you should definitely check them out :)

Rule #4: Contact those bloggers and share with them the great news!

Hooray!

War Eagle

I think it's safe to say I have never experienced anything quite like Auburn football. I can only imagine what it must be like on days when it's a huge rivalry game. Nonetheless, I had such a great great time. Between my camera and my phone, Jeremy and I went on a picture overload.. here are some of my favorites.

Jeremy's brother knew the tricks.. we parked pretty far but avoided traffic and got to get a great tour of the campus and surrounding areas.

These are the trees that were poisoned.. they looked so sad, but they still get rolled every time Auburn wins a ball game.

This is Jeremy's niece.. such an adorable little Auburn fan.

I Won!!

First of all, I am back from my exciting weekend in Auburn and can't wait to post some pictures.. keep a lookout for that later :)

But most excitingly.. I WON A GIVEAWAY! My first ever. I am so excited! I want to send a special thanks Mallorie at Home is with you... and Lauren at Open Heart Window. Check out their blogs, they are two of my favorites.

Anyways, I received my package from Lauren in the mail the other day!! She made me a hair clip that can be clipped directly into my hair, on a headband, or elastic headband. So versatile and sooo adorable.... and I got to choose my own colors. Since I tend to wear a lot of neutrals and browns I went with that.. I couldn't be happier with how it came out. Thank you thank you thank you :)

Oh, How Pinteresting - Football

This weekend the boy and I are driving down to Auburn, Alabama to visit his brother, sister-in-law, and niece andddd to see my first ever Auburn football game. Now, just so you know, his family are all ginormous Auburn fans. I think the boy has liked teaching me how to say "war eagle". So, since there has been a lot of war eagleing going on around here lately, I thought I'd theme my pinterest picks after football, especially Auburn football.

Blog Swap

Leann over at Join the Gossip coordinated a Blog Swap! I had never done one of these before and I had a whole lot of fun getting the opportunity to participate. For those who may be unfamiliar with this here's what a blog swap is.. If we were interested, we sent Leann our email address. She then randomly paired each of us with a fellow blogger. We exchanged mailing addresses and then went shopping with a $20 spending limit. Not only was it fun to pick things out for a blogger I had never met, but it was also exciting to receive some mail.

I was paired up with Angela from Sweet Tea Diaries. I had never read her blog before and I'm so happy Leann introduced me to Miss Sweet Tea. She sent me an extremely thoughtful package full of all her favorite things.

There were some gossip magazines, a great fall mauve nail polish, adorable note cards, two pairs of socks, and a bag of gummi bears. Amazing. I got this package yesterday and I'm already halfway through my bag of gummi bears, painted my nails, and read pretty much both those magazines... yeah, I think she did good.

So thanks so much Angela for my wonderful gifts. I'm so glad we got to do this for each other! You should be getting my package soon if you haven't already.

They Won!!

Yes!! The University of Memphis Tiger Football team won a game!! This is the first victory I have ever seen! I was so excited and still am! I know it's super pessimistic but this could possibly be the only win this entire football season for them.

I don't know if you can tell but the score was 27-6... wasn't the stadium packed? hah

We tried to get a picture of us with the winning scoreboard behind us... yes, I know, we're dorks.

I hope the U of M Athletic department doesn't think all their problems are fixed because they won this one game.. against Austin Peay.. They have much bigger problems. Firing the defensive coordinator will do nothing. Bigger things need to happen. Anyways, enough of that.. I'm very happy to have been able to see a win for the good ole' Memphis Tigers. Next weekend we're making a trip down to Auburn to see some more Tiger football.. I'm so excited!

Movie Review - Limitless

Source: imdb.com via Matt on Pinterest

This weekend, the boy and I rented Limitless starring Bradley Cooper. Without giving away too much, it honestly wasn't my favorite! I think I went into it thinking I'd like it better. Something I did like though was that finally a movie with a completely new plot, something I had never seen before. Oh, I also liked that Bradley Cooper was in it - I like him.

I can appreciate that it was a good movie there were just some parts of the story I didn't necessarily like. *Spoiler - STOP reading if you don't want to know too much* I didn't like that his girlfriend dumped him when he was struggling to write his book but liked him again when he was all rich and famous.. she should have stuck by him. I also didn't like that it made it seem like you needed to use the super drug to get out of sticky situations. Like when the girl was being chased in the park. She needed to take the pill to figure out how to escape without being hurt. I guess the moral of the story was that you didn't need to take the drug to succeed but there was really nothing throughout the entire thing that made you think that.

Overall, I'm glad I watched it, although I probably wouldn't watch it again. I also wouldn't tell anybody not to see it.

There you have it, my completely honest opinion!

Strawberry Sauce

We are culinary geniuses.

Ok, we're not. BUT we made the BEST thing last night (and then I had more today hah). We made strawberry sauce. I got the idea when I was making homemade fruit leather a few weeks ago. Basically all you have to do is get some strawberries, cut them up, and heat them on the stove with a little lemon juice for a while. The natural juices start cooking and the strawberries become syrupy goodness. I put mine on some vanilla ice cream while the boy put his on some biscuits we had left over from dinner. Oh my goodness, so good.. I definitely recommend doing this! It's super easy and healthy! All you need are some strawberries and tada you've got a sweet treat.

Night at the Theater

Last night, Jeremy and I went downtown to the Orpheum theater to see Les Miserables. This is one of my all time favorite shows so I bought him tickets for his birthday. He had never seen it and really didn't know much about the story beforehand. I think he enjoyed it.. or at least he said he did. I know I did.

...and I really enjoyed the Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough  frozen yogurt we had before the show.

I really love the trolley that runs down Main Street.

This was my first time seeing the inside of the theater. It was beautiful.. my pictures really don't do it justice.
