Book Worm

I have been such a book worm lately! I can't seem to stop reading. I had been in a book slump for a while. I felt like I was reading the same story over and over again with just different characters. In the past couple of weeks I have blown through several books that were recommended to me and that I would definitly recommend. I am out of my slump and now have my thirst for books back!

If you want a light, happy book - don't read this. Yes, the story is sad, but it's beautiful and extremely touching. It's a different take on the holocaust. It's a story we don't typically hear.
This quickly became one of my favorite books.
(I found this book through Sometimes Sweet where Amy wrote about it - thanks girls!)

I could not put this book down. It was amazing to see what Carolyn Jessop went through and how she escaped her life of polygamy. This book definitly opened my eyes. I had no idea there were people like this still today. In our country, no less.
(I originally heard about this book on Ruthie's blog - thanks for the reccomendation, Ruthie!)

Did you love The Hunger Games? Well, this is exxxxtremely similar to that, so if you miss reading about Katniss, you can read about Tris and how she handles a dystopian society. I liked this book! It was a page turner and I really wanted to see what happened next. It's a quick read, but a good one, especially for summer.
(Thanks Paige for this one!!)

Next Up:

I have to know what happens next!!! Divergent ended on such a cliffhanger.

Have you read any of these books?
I'd love to hear what you thought!

  6. I absolutely loved Divergent and Insurgent! I can't wait for the third one next year.

I've had Escape on my bookshelf, but just haven't gotten around to reading it. Maybe that should be the next one on my list.

Another series that I enjoyed was the Delirium series by Lauren Oliver. Only two books in the series are available right now, the third should be coming out some time soon. This is another YA dystopian series, still similar to Divergent.

  7. I started Divergent and couldn't get into it. I will definitely try again. I was in a huge reading slump, so I just wasn't feeling it. I'm reading again though and have finished 2 books in 4 days. Go me!
