Decatur, Alabama

Ten Feet Off Beale - Decatur, Alabama

We headed down to Decatur, Alabama to spend some quality time with Jeremy's grandparents. This was my first time visiting this sleepy little Southern town, and we had a great time. We spent majority of the weekend lounging around, watching football, and eating... lots and lots of eating.

On Saturday, the weather was absolutely gorgeous so they gave me a tour of Decatur, Alabama.

We went on a little nature walk, to see an old abandoned train station, and even a bank that was caught in cross fire during the Civil War! You can even see some bullet holes.. I was fascinated hearing all the stories and history of this little southern town.

  1. it angers me that you were so close and I didn't know! Decatur is like, 20 minutes away from my parents' house, and a little over an hour from Birmingham. fun fact - I got my drivers license in Decatur. the line there is a lot more manageable than in Huntsville.

  2. Did you go to the Bennett-McEntire House? It's a historic home where (I think) the Battle of Shiloh was planned. My relatives live there and run the place. :)

  3. This is adorable and special. I would give anything for 5 more minutes with my grandparents. I also loved his little hat.
