Bookworm: Unbroken

If you read any book this year, I recommend Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. It's not a light read by any means and the story isn't warm and fuzzy. It is, however, a book you will not be able to put down and a book that will stay with you.

Written by the same author who wrote Seabiscuit, Unbroken is the true story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic athlete turned American hero who lived through unfathomable events during World War II. He is an incredible example of the trials that a person can endure.

As I was reading, I couldn't believe how one person was capable of living through such unbelievable circumstances. Louis Zamperini did survive his unimaginable ordeal, and in fact passed away just a few weeks ago at the age of 97.

Another reason you should read this book right away is because it is going to be a movie! Yes, Angela Jolie is actually directing it and from the trailer, it looks like it's going to be a good one.

So, have any of you read this yet??

Bookworm: Where'd You Go, Bernadette

Book to Read: Where'd You Go, Bernadette

I love reading. I love getting lost in different worlds and time periods. I love getting to know and falling in love with different characters. I read a lot but I don't share too many books on this here blog. I do however want to share this book, Where'd You Go, Bernadette. I HIGHLY recommend it!! It's witty, entertaining, and a total page turner. I couldn't put this one down and I was so sad when it ended! I didn't want to say goodbye to these characters.

The story is told through email messages, official documents, and secret correspondences that have all been compiled by 15-year-old, Bee who is trying to find her mother. It's unique with twists and turns you'll never see coming. The entire book is a total adventure.

So, now that I've finished this book, do you have any suggestions for me?

Bookworm

Ten Feet Off Beale Bookworm

I don't know if it's because it offically feels like summer (even though I don't get a summer vacation) or because I've just happened to be stumbling upon books I can't put down, but I have been such a bookworm lately! When I turned 24 I gave myself the goal of reading 24 books before I turn 25 (see the whole list here) well, I am well on my way, just about halfway through! These are the books I've been reading lately:

The Fault in Our Stars - John Green: I loved this. I laughed and I cried. It was truly a phenomenal book.

The Light Between Oceans - M.L Stedman: I'll be honest, this one was just okay. While I thought the story line was really interesting, it took me a really long time to get into it. It was only like the last one hundred pages that really had me wanting to see what happened next.

Blackberry Winter - Sarah Jio: This story takes place in modern day andddd the 1930s... to me, that was what made this book really good. I loved how the same story wove it's way through two completely different eras.

Inferno - Dan Brown: I LOVE Robert Langdon!!! I was so so happy when I saw Dan Brown wrote another book with this character. While reading, when art work or places were mentioned, I'd google them. I thought that really added something to the story. I couldn't put this one down.

The Storyteller - Jodi Picoult:  Leave it to Jodi Picoult to add plot twists throughout this story. I never saw what was coming. I read this one in record time.

Have you read any good books lately??
