Make A Difference

Last week I talked a little bit about social activism. I talked about how something small can change someone's world. I talked about how inspiring the Ford Fiesta Movement Agents are this month while the theme is social activism. This one specifically. This has been on my heart and on my mind lately and I want to do something. With the new year (quickly) approaching, I've been brainstorming some ways I can give back.

I want to help others. In the new year I am going to be making a very special embroidery hoop. Every few months I'm going to pick a good cause or a charity and donate a portion of my embroidery hoop sales. I'm still trying to iron out the details so there will be more information when I know more. What I do know now though is that I want to make a difference, even if it's a small one.

Now, I want to hear from you! What charities or causes have a special place in your heart?

Ford Fiesta Movement: Social Activism

This month, the Ford Fiesta Movement is focusing on Social Activism. I think that's a pretty perfect theme for December. Even though I think people should always be helping others in need, it is especially important around the holidays. I love what this Ford Fiesta Movement Agent did this month. Watch the video:

As the video says, "even the smallest thing can mean the world". So, what are you doing this holiday season?

Here are some suggestions:

- Help someone to their car with their groceries
- Give gift cards to random strangers at a restaurant to help them pay
- Leave change in a vending machine
- Donate money to a good cause or charity you support
- Leave something sweet in your mailbox for your postal worker
- Leave an encouraging note on someone's car
- Pay for the car behind you at a drive-thru
- Hand out candy canes to everyone at the post office or your office or the grocery store
- Volunteer
- Tune into the Tube-a-thon, a live-streamed holiday party featuring huge YouTube stars as well as traditional Hollywood celebrities on Thursday, December 12 at 6pmPT/9pm ET. Online viewers can tweet along with the hashtag #Tubeathon or #FiestaMovement, and for every tweet What’s Trending and Fiesta Movement will donate $1 to Covenant House.

Something kind doesn't have to be something big. You can change someone's day by simply holding the door open or paying them a compliment. You don't have to spend any money, simply do something out of the goodness of your heart to put a smile on someone's face, you never know, it could be exactly what they need.

Running With the Bulls

While browsing some Ford Fiesta Movement videos I stumbled across this incredibly entertaining video. Put a little entertainment into your day inspired by the Ford Fiesta Movement! Seriously though, watch this video. It will definitely put a smile on your face.

This is a bull run I think even I could get into! What was your favorite part of the video?

Ford Fiesta Movement: Entertainment

How do you entertain yourself? The possibilities are pretty much endless. Everyone is different and everyone has different ideas about entertainment. I was browsing some of the official Ford Fiesta Movement Agent's videos the other day and came across the one below. Watch it. I mean, how fun and entertaining does that gorgeous day in California look!!

Memphis doesn't look quite like that. (Not even close) However, that doesn't mean there aren't entertaining things to do in Memphis! Here are some of my favorites:

1. Orpheum
Whether it's a musical or the ballet or simply just a movie, I've never had a bad time at the Orpheum. You can pretty much always count on an entertaining time when you visit. Not to mention, it's absolutely gorgeous.

2. The Band Box
There's a tiny little bar found on the world famous Beale Street that sometimes gets forgotten. It's called The Band Box and it's part of Blues City Cafe. We like ducking into the Band Box on weekend to watch some awesome Rockabilly bands (our favorite is Hillbilly Casino) bust out classic tunes from Elvis and Johnny Cash and some original tunes as well.

3. Zoo
For some quieter entertainment, I like spending the day at the Zoo. Simply walking around is not only fun, and relaxing, and good exercise. The animals are always entertaining. The monkeys get me every time.

4. Museums
Memphis is fulllll of history. There are so many different museums that cover many many different topics! For instance, there's the Cotton Museum, the Brooks Museum, the Children's Museum of Memphis, and the Metal Museum. All are unique, educational, and entertaining in their own special way.

5. Fed Ex Forum
The Fed Ex Forum is the home of the Memphis Grizzlies andddd the Memphis Tigers. Basketball games are always fun and entertaining, especially in Memphis. The people here take their basketball very seriously.

What is your favorite thing to do for entertainment where you live?

Make A Statement

Fall Trends: Graphic Sweater // Ten Feet Off Beale http://www.tenfeetoffbeale.com Fall Fashion Statement: Graphic Sweater // Ten Feet Off Beale http://www.tenfeetoffbeale.com

Last week I talked about making a fashion statement this fall. This may not seem like much but I went out of my comfort zone and made a fashion statement. I followed one of this fall's most popular trends and wore a graphic sweater. I dressed it up by wearing a pair of black heals and even added a statement necklace!

Have you been following the Ford Fiesta Movement? That's where I got this sudden burst of inspiration to make a fashion statement. This month's theme is Style. Be sure to check out how the official Ford Fiesta Movement Agents have been using their 2014 Ford Fiestas this month!

PS. My sweater is from Old Navy! They have so many cute graphic sweaters!!

Ford Fiesta Movement: Make A Statement

Remember when I first mentioned the Ford Fiesta Movement? Since then, I've been watching videos and following the official Ford Fiesta Movement agents on their adventures with their new 2014 Ford Fiestas. I watched a bunch of videos about all the different adventures they went on and even was inspired to go on one of my own. I went on an Urban Hike through Memphis.

This month, their challenge is Style. I've already watched several videos that the official agents have made and I'm feeling inspired again. In this video, Bridget made a statement by dying her hair!! This fall, there are so many incredible trends that allow everyone to make a statement, even without altering hair color (although that's cool, too).

Here are some of my favorite Fall trends that definitely make a statement:

Hats

Graphic Sweaters

Leather Skirts

What is your favorite statement making trend this season??

My goal is to take some inspiration from Bridget and make a statement with one of these fall trends! Be sure to check back and see which look I pick!

An Urban Hike

As you might remember from this post, I was inspired by the official Ford Fiesta Movement to go on my own adventure.

After watching a few videos, I decided to go on a hike. Not just any hike though. I decided to go on an urban hike. Instead of hiking through a forest, I hiked through downtown Memphis... in the rain. Rather than climbing to the peak of a mountain, I trekked to a few rooftops... with a storm rolling in. I got some great pictures, made a few friends, and discovered some amazing Memphis spots that anyone can visit. Overall it was a success!! More adventures for me, please!!

First stop on my big adventure was to the Madison Hotel. The Madison has a newly renovated rooftop deck and a killer view of the Mississippi River. To get there, I just took the elevator all the way to the top and walked out onto the deck. The rain has just let up a little bit and the clouds were low. I had never seen Memphis quite like this. These pictures don't do it justice.

Lots of Memphians don't realize they can just go up to the Madison rooftop deck anytime they want! It's definitely worth stopping by sometime.

After the Madison I walked over to the Peabody (fun fact - this is where we're getting married!!). The rooftop of the Peabody is always open to the public... except when it's raining. I learned that one the hard way. Fortunately, I ran into some friendly Peabody workers (and the duck master!) and explained to them that I was on an urban hiking adventure. They let me snap a few photos. I absolutely suggest taking a trip up the Peabody elevators (when the weather's nice) and checking out the view.

Overall this adventure took me out of my comfort zone (I pretty much always do stuff like this with Jeremy) and I have a new appreciation for going exploring in the rain. Take my advice.. don't be a afraid to go on an adventure. Even it it's right in your own backyard.

Have you been on any adventures lately?

Ford Fiesta Movement: Adventure is Out There!

Ford Fiesta Movement: Adventure // Ten Feet Off Beale

Ford is celebrating the new 2014 Fiesta with the Ford Fiesta Movement (doesn't that sound fun?). As a fiance to a Ford driver, I'm pretty excited to have the opportunity to share this movement with you. The Ford Fiesta Movement is all about the exciting adventures we find in life and getting out there and really living. For the next four months, Ford is giving us a theme to come up with something awesome (and out of the box) to do!

This month's theme is Adventure.

Now, I need your help. I am going to go on an adventure but I want YOU (yes, you) to help me pick which adventure I should go on. So, if you please, leave a comment with a fun adventure you think I should go on within the next few days. It could be anything (pretty much hah)..

Should I go on a hike? Cook something crazy? Visit a museum?

Go downhill mountain biking?

Nope. Not that. Won't do that!

Leave a comment with your suggestions! I'm ready to get out there and have an adventure (except probably downhill mountain biking)!
