Looking Back: March

It's hard to believe anotherrrrr month has completely flown by! I guess that's what happens when you're having fun. Anyways, at the beginning of March I set some goals for myself. Let's see how I did, shall we?

>> Take More Pictures - I've actually been better about bringing my camera with me when we go places. I guess there's always room for improvement, though. Both Jeremy and I had fun snapping pictures at the Metal Museum.

>> Make Ice Cream - I did this BUT it was a disaster!!! I pulled out my ice cream maker and tried to make mint ice cream for St. Patrick's Day and it tasted horrible! I still don't know what I did wrong. I muuust try this again and possibly follow one of my tried and true recipes like this one for peach ice cream or this one for cookies & cream.

>> Decorate with Fresh Flowers - I failed at this one, too. I think I was so hopeful that Spring would have sprung entirely, however, we had some cold spells! In April there will be fresh flowers, for sure. I mean, it's hard to leave the Farmer's Market without a bouquet and the market starts back up in April!

>> Create New Embroidery Hoops - I have actually been stitching a whole bunch lately, however, the only new hoop I've shared.... so far.... was this Memphis Grizzlies hoop. I also shared the news that I now do hand embroidery for Cotton Tails, an adorable children's boutique here in Memphis!

>> Find a Pot of Gold - I had the goal to save some money this month. Overall, I think I did okkkkk with this, the biggest issue is grocery shopping!! I don't know how we manage to spend so much money there. We meal plan, and use digital coupon, and still drop loads of dough... any tips?

>> Exercise - Pshh. This is a big fat fail.. I've been so bad with the cold weather and it's hard to get back into the routine. There are rumors around my house that we might be getting bicycles here in the next month or two so that should help :)

So, how was your March?? Bloggers, leave me links! I'd love to read some things you did this month.

Four Reasons to Visit the Metal Museum

I've lived in the Memphis area for almost five years. I've lived Downtown for almost two. In all that time, the National Ornamental Metal Museum has been practically in my backyard and this weekend was my first visit (#badmemphian). I have absolutely been missing out! The Metal Museum has so much to offer, here are just four reasons why you should visit:

( 1 ) The Art: Duh. You go to a museum like this, you expect to see some art. Well, the art was mind blowing. It's amazing the things people can do with metal!

( 2 ) The View: The Museum is located on the south end of downtown right on the river. The views are spectacular! No wonder this is a popular wedding spot.

( 3 ) The Classes: The Museum offers classes for all skill levels in which you can learn things like blacksmithing and welding. We happened to be there while a class was going on and watched for a bit. It was very hands on and looked verrrry interesting.

( 4 ) The Events: Not only can you book the grounds for your own private event, but there are other unique events sprinkled throughout the calendar. Do you have a broken piece of metal that you need repaired? There are Repair Days at the museum where you can get things fixed. There are also events with live music and food trucks. Some of these even come with free admission. Check out their calendar. I know for sure we will be attending an event or two in the near future.

We had such a great time visiting. I'm already looking forward to going back to this fascinating and unique Memphis museum.

Cotton Tails

Once again, blogging has given me an opportunity I might not have had otherwise. I am popping in today to share that you can now find Ten Feet Off Beale hand embroidery at Cotton Tails, an adorrrrable children's boutique in the Laurelwood Shopping Center.

So, if you wanted a sweet sweater for a little boy or girl, go to Cotton Tails! I am stitching custom sweaters with names or monograms on sweaters as well as bloomers for baby girls only available there.

There is also a Baby's First Noel ornament available there that I don't have listed in my Etsy shop!

Memphis Moms, if you've never shopped at Cotton Tails your absolutely missing out. It's way too cute.

The Most Important Meal + Cheerios Coupon & Paypal Giveaway

Breakfast. The most important meal of the day but the meal I skip most of the time. Truthfully, I'm just not a morning person. I'm lucky if I can get myself to work on time let alone have time to sit down and eat a good meal. The worst part? I feel so sluggish when I don't eat something in the morning. I needed an easy breakfast.

Enter Cheerios and 100% Florida Orange Juice. Very few ingredients, I know the grocery store will always be in stock, andddd I can keep these things in the refrigerator at work so I don't have to get up early and cook anything. See? Easy. The glass of orange juice alone gives me 100% vitamin C to help maintain a healthy immune system and the Cheerios only have one gram of sugar per serving.

I have a feeling I'm not the only one out there with breakfast issues. How about a coupon to make this breakfast easier, I mean, everyone likes to save a buck! Also, scroll to the bottom of this post, I'm giving away some PayPal cash that you can put towards your own healthy breakfast to jump start your day and give you a #BetterBreakfast.

A woman’s purse is a very important thing. To me, my purse is full of necessary items to get me through my day. Things I can’t live without.

These are some of the essential items you will alwayssss find in my bag:

- My Planner - I would never remember anything without my planner. I have been tempted to start using my phone as an electronic planner but there’s just something I love about writing on paper my to-do lists and my plans. This particular planner has been working for me quite well this year!

- An Umbrella - I don’t know what it is, but if I don’t have my umbrella, I get caught in the rain. Every. Single. Time. So, to avoid that, I always lug around an umbrella.

- Wallet - This one is pretty obvious, but I would be lost without it!

- Chapstick - I think I have an addition… to chapstick. You will always find me with at least one tube in my purse… or pocket… most of the time, both.

- Ester-C - Even though this makes my bag jingle sometimes, the immune support is totally worth it. Ester-C is my go-to product all year round, not just during the winter months. I particularly like that Ester-C is chock full of Vitamin C that can be used as a supplement for immune support.

Ester-C can be found at Walmart and it is currently on rollback!

Raspberry Lemon Muffins

I found this recipe for raspberry lemon muffins on Pinterest that claimed they were high-protein anddd low sugar. They looked good, however, when things try to be healthy sometimes they aren't that great. Well, these muffins were a verrry pleasant surprise! They were delicious!!

These are the perfect things to whip up and keep in the pantry to snack on. We've already been through a few batches! They're great to grab in the morning for breakfast when running out the door and they're also yummy warmed up with some butter.

Have you had any recipe wins lately?

Grit & Grind

It's no secret, this town is a basketball town. Between the Tigers and the Grizzlies, it would be hard to find a Memphian who couldn't have an intelligent conversation about basketball. I stitched up a few Grizzlies hoops recently and thought that if anyone would appreciate some Grizzlies artwork, it would be Memphians. People love this team!

I'm thinking of taking one of these to work to hang in my cubicle.

PS. They're now listed in my shop :)

March Goals

Hello, March! Yes, it's still freezing outside but the end of winter is in sight. I'm trying to bring myself out of hibernation so I'm setting some goals for this month. There are some things I want to be held accountable for and fun things I want to do.

>> Take More Pictures - My poor camera has been neglected. When the world is grey, I have very little motivation to snap pictures of pretty things or even everyday life. I want to get back in the habit of documenting moments, even the simple ones.

>> Make Ice Cream - It's been too long since I've used my ice cream maker. I'm thinking it needs to be pulled out soooooon.

>> Decorate with Fresh Flowers - Spring is almost here and with spring comes flowers! I think having flowers around is just what I need to get rid of the winter blues.

>> Create New Embroidery Hoops - I have ideas spinning around my head! I just need to get them stitched up. This will happen this month. Be on the lookout for new hoops listed in my shop.

>> Find a Pot of Gold - Putting a St. Patrick's Day spin on this one, but one of my goals this month is to spend money frugally. We have some fun trips planned in the next few months and plane tickets are expensive.

>> Exercise - Putting this one on here to hold myself accountable! Getting back into the habit of exercising has not been easy... I'm choosing to blame the weather. I have a feeling, though, that there will be some sunny days this month and I am going to take advantage of them and get outside!

What are some things you want to accomplish this month?
