Pray Without Ceasing

Pray without ceasing 1 Thess 5:17 // Ten Feet Off Beale embroidery hoop

This verse is one of my favorites (andddd probably the only one I know by memory). It's also an important reminder.

I'm noticing a trend. My hoops lately are little reminders. Little things that I don't want to forget. For instance, last week, I was inspired to make a hoop that just said "defy gravity". A reminder that you can do anything you put your mind to. This is so encouraging to me, especially when I feel overwhelmed. This week, I made hoop about prayer. When things are going particularly bad I feel like I constantly pray (which is good), however, when things are good, and I'm content, I find myself talking to God much less. I need to be thankful in good times and in bad times and I need to always remember to pray, without ceasing.

With all that being said, I updated my shop and included this hoop, juuuust in case any of you need the same reminders I need.

Eating in Memphis (28) - The Elegant Farmer

Eating in Memphis: The Elegant Farmer

Wow. It has been a loooooong time since we've crossed anything off the "Eating in Memphis"!! Like way longer than I even thought!!!

Jeremy knows me so well. He took me to one of the places we haven't been to for our Valentine's date! We went to The Elegant Farmer. Not only was this our first "Eating in Memphis" restaurant in a while but it was also the first time we haven't eaten walking distance from our place in pretty much forever. It was nice! We enjoyed spending time together without anywhere to rush off to.

Now, a little bit about The Elegant Farmer. It's a quaint little place by the University of Memphis that serves food using fresh and local ingredients. It's also Project Green Fork certified, meaning they strive to be good to the environment. It's pretty small, we went on a Thursday the week after Valentine's Day and I'm glad we made a reservation. It's definitely not an "in-and-out" type of place. You'll want to relax and enjoy your delicious food.

We ordered the salmon cakes since they were on our list! I'm definitely glad we did. Once again, this was something we probably wouldn't have ordered on our own, but we did and we practically licked the plate. They were delicious! Please ignore the terrible phone picture. The place is dimly lit and I didn't want to disturb the other diners with my huge camera orrrr a flash :)

The Green Beetle

The Green Beetle Memphis, TN / Ten Feet Off Beale The Green Beetle Memphis / Ten Feet Off Beale The Green Beetle / Ten Feet Off Beale

Sometimes on a Saturday night we like to do something low key. We found the perfect place for this: The Green Beetle. Located right on the trolley line, The Green Beetle is the oldest tavern in Memphis. It's a small little place just bursting with Memphis charm.

Every Friday and Saturday night they have live music. The times we've been there we have absolutely loved the entertainment. I always say it's as if my Pandora station is playing live in front of me. The performers they have play acoustic covers of popular musicians like Johnny Cash, the Lumineers, Mumford and Sons, and plenty of classics. It's the perfect music to just sit back and listen to.

For such a small place, their menu actually has a bunch of different options! We keep going back and ordering different things. We have yet to be disappointed. So far, my favorite thing is the buffalo chicken sandwich. I've also heard from a reliable source that their burgers are amazing.

An extra bonus is that it's only about a five minute walk from our place!

Defy Gravity

Defy Gravity Embroidery Hoop // Ten Feet Off Beale

For the past few weeks, the Broadway hit, Wicked was in Memphis! This is one of my favorite shows. It has been wayyyyy too long since I'd seen it. I think the last time was in New York when I was in high school. Yeah, that was a long time ago!

I am one lucky girl and got to see it twice while it was in town! The second time, from the second row! Basically, since then, I've had the songs stuck in my head which inspired this new hoop.

Defying Gravity is one of the most popular songs from this musical and I think the message expands so much further than just within the plot. This phrase, to me, is empowering. It's an encouragement that you can do anything, you simply have to try.

I think I'll keep this one near my desk as inspiration as well as listing it in my shop!

Say #YesToGreatLove

February is very clearly the month of love. Allow me to take this time to reflect on the great loves in my life. Some have been around longer than others but all are here to stay.

#YesToGreatLove / Ten Feet Off Beale

Let's start with the most obvious love in my life. My fiance. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined finding someone like him. He laughs at my lame jokes, takes me on adventures, and is always making me smile. He's a keeper.

#YesToGreatLove // Ten Feet Off Beale

My next loves are our animals. When Jeremy and I started dating, he understood that I came with a cat (Dexter), and I knew that he came with a dog (Harrison). It's as if the four of us were always meant to be together. Even though Jeremy claims he isn't a cat person, I think Dexter is truly growing on him. I can't imagine life without our furry friends.

The last great love I want to mention today is a relatively new one. Have you ever heard of Yes To Carrots? They make amazing natural beauty products that have always caught my eye on the shelves. Well, I finally got the opportunity to try their new line of fragrance free products and it was pretty much love at first sight. All their products make my skin feel refreshed and clean. Not to mention, their packaging is super cute!

Not only are their products awesome, but the company is pretty awesome as well. This year, they're introducing the #YESTOMOVEMENT, which is a Hashtag Project and monthly photo contest with a PRIZE for their favorite snap! This month’s hashtag is #YESTOGREATLOVE, and it’s all about sharing that GREAT LOVE in your life.

A Rose Bouquet That Will Never Die

Rose Bouquet Embroidery // Ten Feet Off Beale Rose Bouquet Embroidery Hoop // Ten Feet Off Beale http://www.tenfeetoffbeale.com

Last month, my grandmother, who I lovingly call Mommom, celebrated her 90th birthday. I wanted to make her something extra special. I stitched her this bouquet of roses that will never die. What makes these even moreee special is that her name is Rose. In fact, my middle name is Rose, after her. Even though I wasn't able to be there to celebrate her birthday with her, I hope that every time she sees her special bouquet of roses, she knows I'm thinking about her and love her very much.

PS. I can't keep this design all to myself! I listed this hoop in my shop :)

Wore

Anthropologie Caridad Ruffle Dress / Ten Feet Off Beale

Yesterday, I talked about the gorgeous wedding venue we had the chance to go to. Today, I'm going to share what I wore! This is pretty much my favorite dress ever. It's comfortable, modest, it twirls, anddd it's one of this year's hottest colors.

I paired it with a trendy sweater to keep warm and a fun magenta lipstick. It was perfect for dancing the night away celebrating the happy couple!

A Berry Fun Wedding

Ok, now that you've gotten past the cheesy pun that is the title of this post, allow me to tell you about the amazing wedding we had the honor of attending this weekend. We traveled to South Boston, Virginia to the Berry Hill Resort to celebrate the marriage of a great friend of Jeremy's (and now a friend of mine!). Everything about this wedding was gorgeous. The location, the couple, even the weather wasn't too cold! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

When you arrive at the Berry Hill, it's like you step back in time. The colonial charm is everywhere! Every detail takes you back. It was the perfect location for a wedding. With an Inn located right on the property everything was within walking distance. I loved that we were able to park our car and just enjoy the weekend at the Berry Hill.

Steven and Jessica, Congratulations!!! I'm so glad we were able to celebrate this special day with you guys. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness and I hope you're having the best time on your honeymoon!!

Bookworm: Where'd You Go, Bernadette

Book to Read: Where'd You Go, Bernadette

I love reading. I love getting lost in different worlds and time periods. I love getting to know and falling in love with different characters. I read a lot but I don't share too many books on this here blog. I do however want to share this book, Where'd You Go, Bernadette. I HIGHLY recommend it!! It's witty, entertaining, and a total page turner. I couldn't put this one down and I was so sad when it ended! I didn't want to say goodbye to these characters.

The story is told through email messages, official documents, and secret correspondences that have all been compiled by 15-year-old, Bee who is trying to find her mother. It's unique with twists and turns you'll never see coming. The entire book is a total adventure.

So, now that I've finished this book, do you have any suggestions for me?

Super Bowl Decorations

Easy decorations to really make your Super Bowl Party a winner!

I love throwing a themed party, so, when I had the opportunity to host my friend's super bowl party, I was thrilled anddd I got super into it. In fact, I remember Jeremy telling me I was going a litttttle over the top. Who cares! I had fun.

Honestly, I really didn't do much!! By simply adding a few personalized and themed decorations, the party was a winner (pun intended).

Easy Super Bowl Decorations: Penalty Flags Easy Super Bowl Decorations: Drink Station Easy Super Bowl Decorations Easy Super Bowl Decorations Easy Super Bowl Decorations: Bunting Easy Super Bowl Decorations
- I put yellow napkins in a box I had and used this printable for the "Penalty Flags" label.
- By hanging a vintage football picture above the bar cart drink station, I pulled the whole theme together.
- I drew a football field on our chalkboard coffee table.
- I made tassel garland out of dollar store tablecloths.
- The different sized football bowls were also found at the dollar store along with the penalty flag and mini football.

Wore // Super Bowl Sunday

New Jersey Shirt by The Home T // Ten Feet Off Beale

Ten Feet Off Beale wearing a shirt from The Home T

Even though I live in Tennessee and consider this my home now. New Jersey will always be my home, too. I mean, that's where I was born and raised and that's where most of my family is! While I love Memphis so very much, New Jersey is a special place to me as well. Since the Super Bowl was held in my home state (it's true.. the New York Giants AND the New York Jets actually play in New Jersey!!) I thought I'd wear this super cute and suuuper soft t shirt from The Home T.

This shirt was perfect for a casual Super Bowl party at our new place. However, it's also extremely versatile! I already know I'll be wearing this all. the. time. Something else I want to point out is that The Home T donates a portion of all profits to multiple sclerosis research. Gotta love a company with a good cause.

I'm very proud to be a Jersey Girl and now I can wear my heart on my sleeve (in a matter of speaking).

Hey, it was the Super Bowl.. you have to have some fun!

This shirt was sent to me courtesy of The Home T however all opinions are entirely my own.

My Tru Love: #TruMoo

Ten Feet Off Beale and #TruMoo Ten Feet Off Beale and #TruMoo

Everyone loves chocolate milk, but can I let you in a little secret? I know what makes chocolate milk evennn better.... marshmallows. The people geniuses over at TruMoo created a very special February flavor of milk: Chocolate Marshmallow. Doesn't that sound good?? Apparently it's so popular that my Target was SOLD OUT!! If you see some, you better scoop it up... quickly!

However, I'll be honest, it has been sooo cold here lately that cold chocolate milk doesn't really sound that good to me. I'd much rather have some nice warm hot chocolate. Well, TruMoo can be enjoyed hot as well! Pretty much, it sounds perfect.

Bonus, TruMoo is nutritious anddd delicious with milk sourced from regional dairies around the country and pure cocoa! There are no artificial growth hormones or any high fructose corn syrup. That, and the marshmallows make it a win-win in my book.

SO, let TruMoo be your Valentine this year, or at least share a glass with your Valentine.

Psssst, answer the question below to enter to win $500 to Target!! Think of all the chocolate milk that could buy!!

Want to know where you can pick up some TruMoo? Check out the store locator!

This post is a sponsored announcement about the new seasonal Chocolate Marshmallow Milk that's in stores this month only! I was unable to actually try this seasonal flavor as it was sold out near me! However, I support TruMoo as a company so, as always, all opinions expressed are my own.
